Email might be the standard cross-company communication tool, but for internal communication, Slack is often the go-to. Many engineers, developers and backoffice specialists don't use email much and are more attentive to Slack.
What does the Slack integration do
The integration gives us permission to send the survey to your employees in a direct message on Slack.
Active employees will receive the Pulse survey when you send it. They will not currently receive reminders in Slack, but they will still get email reminders.

People still get email reminders with the Slack integration turned ON. This is an additional chance for employees to receive the survey.

No you cannot control or edit the timing or content of the messages.
We optimize our product, the timing, look, feel and content of the messages to improve response rates for you and to deliver a great product for the whole organization.
Spending lots of time developing the options for clients to customize the messages and customize the detailed timing of messages is not the best use of our time.
Here are the steps
To set this up you need to be an admin of your Zoios account and have permissions to install applications in your Slack workspace.

Navigate to the Admin panel and to the page Slack integration.
Click the Connect to Slack button to start the setup.
That link will take you to a page on Slack.
Make sure to select the right Slack workspace in the dropdown in top right corner (if you have access to more it might pick the wrong one as the default).
You'll now see a page where Zoios is requesting permission to access your Slack Workspace. You can see what we will be able to view and what we will be able to do (like sending surveys and reminders to your employees).
Note: Zoios is not a publicly available app for the Slack marketplace and it is not an "approved app" by Slack. You might see this flagged on the page.
Click Allow to continue, and you'll see a thank you page confirming that the integration is now configured.
Go to Slack and type in Zoios in the search field. You should be able to see a Zoios App inside your Slack workspace. That confirms the installation.
